Avertic® The original.
In the early 80:s Kjell Eng, the founder of Engtex, got the idea to use textiles for protection and cut prevention. Having worked as a logger earlier in life, he was very aware of the danger of using and handling a chainsaw. The first generation of protection fabrics consisted of a multilayered specially designed tricot fabric that pealed off layer by layer at contact with the saw chain – and the chainsaw protection was born. Statistics showed a reduction in injuries at work-related accidents in forestry work and logging. It did not however stop the more severe accidents with deep cuts and lethal outcome.
The development of a third generation of protection fabrics started in 1991-1992. By using a combination of new protection techniques, new materials and finishing, this new generation of protection textile enhanced not only the washability of garments but also the level of protection compared to earlier generations.
With today’s cut prevention fabrics, Kjell Eng’s original idea, Engtex and the trade mark Avertic®, has protected forest workers all over the world. For over three decades Engtex and Avertic has built a robust reputation for security, safety and confidence.
